NO MAFIA MEMORIAL museum by George Koulouridis

On 12/04/24 I visit Sicily for a few days. Last station Palermo the beautiful capital.

There I found the NO MAFIA MEMORIAL museum, the highest example in the city that best explains the mafia phenomenon and the antimafia.

The museum is located in the historic Gulì palace, along the oldest street in the city, the Cassaro.

The mafia does exist until now. It exists in places beyond Sicily as well. Needless to say, and not to sound hypocritical, but they don’t care about you or any of the other citizens of Sicily. They’re busy controlling politics.

Palermo,16/04/2024

A photo taken in 1979 shows a mafia boss in handcuffs. It is Leoluca Bagarella, of the Corleonesi clan, arrested for the first time. The man stares with burning ferocity at the person who has just photographed him, while the black gloves of the police lead him to justice. On the other side of the lens is Letizia Battaglia, thrown to the ground by the kick that the mafioso launched to push her away. Among the crowd of journalists, the woman managed to take one of the most significant images in contemporary news, testimony to the fight against organized crime.
