Patrizia Rossi (aka Batsceba Hardy) was born in Milan (June 1951), attended classical high school and during her university studies, in addition to graduating in directing at the Piccolo Teatro School, she acted in the theatre: in 1971 with the Acquarius Theater Group (Roberto Agostini, Gabriele Salvatores, Denise Petriccione, Erika Rossi, Tonino Donato) staged Doctor Faust at the Teatro Uomo in Milan, a reworking of the Faustian myth inspired by Christopher Marlowe, Thomas Mann and Goethe. In 1972 with the Teatro Aperto (Open Theater) (Roberto Agostini, Gabriele Salvatores, Denise Petriccione, Erika Rossi) she staged the Red Death and Saltarospo from Edgar Allan Poe in a warehouse in Viale Zara in Milan. In 1972/73, together with Roberto Agostini and the Pontenuovo neighbourhood committee, she founded the Officina Theater, which was inaugurated with Sophocles' Antigone by Brecht of the Gruppo delle Rocca. In 1975 she went back to organizing the Officina Theater but ultimately abandoned it due to disagreements on artistic choices. In the same year, she studied optics and photographic theory in order to secure a permanent job. But she preferred to remain independent. In 1976 she created a documentary on the birth and development of the Rotobolo show by Remondi and Caporossi, Milan, Confronti Teatrali, Piazza Vetra. Caporossi has always claimed it as his own project without ever recognizing the artistic property of the author. The following year she shot a second documentary on the Teatro Artigiano di Cantù which, in contrast, has always recognized her as the director of the documentary. Also in 1976 she graduated in philosophy with a thesis in art criticism, supervisor Enrico Castelnuovo (110 cum laude). From 1976 to 1981 (when she became a mother) she established herself in her profession as a photographer of the theatrical avant-garde, collaborating with specialized magazines, books, as well as Panorama, L'Europeo, La Repubblica and the yearbook Il Patalogo, by Franco Quadri. In those years she created some apartment performances: King and Queen, Point of view of the game, Special Effect. In '79 she participated in the Sicof in Milan, curated by Lanfranco Colombo and in the Lucca Comics Show. In the 1980s she devoted herself to drawing and worked as a creative artist with various advertising companies. From 1990 onwards she collaborated with Ferrero in the creation of the characters and stories of the Kinder eggs. In 2006 she participated as a guest in an episode of Tutti i colori del giallo, the successful radio show conducted until 2011 by Luca Crovi on Rai Radio 2 and was sworn in the Azzeccagarbugli Premio al Romanzo Poliziesco, held in Varenna (Lc), the July 8. In September 2006 she moved to Berlin and opened a pacifist blog in Splinder, under the pseudonym of Batsceba Hardy and since 2008, after publishing her last book as Patrizia Rossi, she completely transforms into her alter ego. She has published two e-books with Emma Books, In utero and Variazioni sul destino, and other novels with Canyon. In Berlin she went back to her old passion, photography and has shown her work in various exhibitions. In 2017 she founded Progressive-Street a 'Gang' of international street photographers and a small independent publishing house, producing a magazine and a series of books. Under her pseudonym, he published her latest novel La vita è stanca with Miraggi Edizioni. In recent years she started curating photographic exhibitions.
Antonio Faeti wrote about her personality as a writer and her fictional universe: 'There are miserly writers and prodigal writers. Patrizia Rossi is very generous with her readers, she wants to treat them as they used to be in the rich and hospitable houses, everything must be made available to these beloved visitors, the pages jump, full, full of events, moods, hectic information. Very prodigal writers love the world, love life, love readers, and deeply hate boredom. '
