1. Are you a professional photographer? No
- Why street photography? My interest is people in their diversity and their interaction
- How would you describe your photography style? I don’t know if I have a defined style yet, but each time I get closer and closer to people
- What makes a good picture from your point of view? What do you look for in an image? The composition, the frame, the POV and above all the story
- How do you educate yourself to take better photos? Going to workshops, looking photographs and interacting with friends
- Where in the world would you most like to photograph? Anywhere you can walk safely down the street with the camera in hand. I like crowds, markets, demonstrations but some times the story could be at the corner
- Who would you most like to photograph and what kind of pictures do you avoid to shoot? Interesting people, expressive characters and in demonstrations, because people are exposed just to be seen. I avoid mocking people, or taking photographs of children without parental authorization
- Have you been confronted by someone whose photo you took on the street? What would be your advices how to avoid confrontation when doing Street Photography? Fortunately rarely. I think that one realizes over time where to avoid taking a photo. On occasions some have asked me to delete the photo because the situation compromised them and I have done it under their gaze. In general, I pretend to be distracted and looking at other things, or pretend to keep taking photos elsewhere. But sometimes I'll walk up, show the camera and get consent with a smile or a look, then I take the photo and I try to get a candid capture.
- Your favourite street image of your own to date and why? I would say that my favorite photo is one that I took a long time ago, one of my first pictures even witht less knowledge of post production than now, but in my opinion I got a very funny story. I have called it "the rooster"
- Your favourite piece of equipment? My favourite is Fujifilm XT3 with a prime lens 23mm (35 equivalent) 2.0 lens which is light and small which is very important on the street. I also have a compact Panasonic Lumix LX100 and sometimes I even take photos with the iPhone 12 Pro
- What are your favourite settings (Aperture. Shutter Speed, ISO, White Balance, Focus, Manual/Auto, Image Format – RAW/JPEG) for Street Photography and why? Aperture setting, the lowest ISO possible for the DOP or speed needed, automatic white balance, autofocus and RAW. For me it is best for a quick shot
- Is photography art? No doubt
- Black And White or Colour? It depends, generally colour, sometimes the photo claims the colour but sometimes the colour can distract me from what I consider the most important
-What are your thoughts on editing? I use Lightroom and I try to manipulate as little as possible, trying to communicate what inspires me. Sometimes a photo requires to be cropped, I lose size, but it allows me to focus on the most important thing in the story
- Why do you share to Progressive Street and who would you like to see showcased from Progressive Street? I love the rhythm and vitality of Progressive Street as well as the communication with the administrators, moderators and all the mates who post.
