I am a self-taught amateur photographer based in Münster, Germany. My way of seeing the world is strongly influenced by my passion for literature, poetry and music. Actually, words were my first love. As a kid growing up, I immersed myself in fairy tales, novels, song lyrics and every other piece of writing I could get a hold of. I have been expressing my thoughts in written form ever since. Over time, my visual language became more and more dominant though and I still enjoy the process of learning, experimenting and improving my photographic skills every day.
I have a deep compassion for the human condition in its multiple facets. My aim is to capture the diverse aspects of life in urban surroundings - solitude versus community, tristesse versus glory, the ordinary versus the oddities of street life. After all, I love being surprised by those unlikely and still synchronistic incidents in the streets!
My familial and professional background probably has a huge influence on my work, too. During my training as a Speech-Language-Therapist, I studied Human Medicine, Psychology, Communication Sciences and Linguistics - subjects that still fascinate me. My further professional education includes systemic consultation - an approach which considers humans within their social networks. Nobody is an island! You can find many references on these topics in my pictures.
Being a working mom of three children, photography became my way of stepping out of the daily hustle and bustle. When I am out in the streets with my camera, I enjoy being fully present with all my senses heightend, while feeling calm and at ease at the same time. As a photographer, I like to remain on the treshold of a scene - observing and moving with it, but not necessarily being part of it. I consider myself to be a visual storyteller: Capturing scenes which send the mind spinning and leave room for multiple interpretations - this is what I love doing.
I believe in the power of connection. Together we can be the change we want to see in this world. That is why I am a member at Progressive Street and an ambassador for the 24hourproject.
